Installing Turf Alternatives

Presented by Blue Thumb - Planting For Clean Water at Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center at Freedom Park

“Installing Turf Alternatives – Your Guide to a Low Maintenance Lawn” covers the advantages of using perennial ground covers to minimize the need for irrigation and chemical inputs while maximizing ecological benefits. It also demonstrates handy how-tos for replacing traditional turf by installing and maintaining two popular types of turf alternatives: Low Maintenance Lawns and Bee Lawns, which support pollinators and clean water. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED for this free program.

Please call 715-262-0104 to make reservations.

Some people turn their yard into native plantings, essentially reverting them to the prairie, meadow or native woodland that they were before being settled. Which is great! But others value using their lawn as a playing field, picnic area or outdoor living room. This workshop is for those who aren’t ready to give up their turf but still want something… a little greener.
