The Accidental Hero

The Accidental Hero

Presented by Stillwater Lions Club at Water Street Inn

On Thursday, June 28th the Stillwater Lions Club presents Patrick Dewane’s presentation ‘The Accidental Hero 3.0’ hosted by Bill Lunn, former KSTP anchor.

The story of Patrick’s grandfather, Col. Matt Konop’s epic experiences in WWII including D-Day, Battle of the Bulge and the Liberation of Checkoslavakia. Performed hundreds of times across our country and for seven years in the Czech Republic, becoming a tradition during their annual Liberation Celebration events in May.
Matt Konop has become a Czech folk hero, and on July 4th, a bronze plaque is being delivered to Konop’s home town of Two Rivers, WI by a delegation led by the mayor of
Domazlice, the Konop family Czech home town and coincidentally liberated by the Colonel and eventually becoming Two Rivers’ sister city.

This is one of our two fundraisers with our chief goal to provide assistance for Lions’ Sight and Hearing projects, plus local programs like our ‘Tom Phillips Scholarships’ rewarding students of SD 834 for exemplary public service; the Let’s Go Fishing Organization providing St Croix River pontoon excursions for Seniors, Veterans and the Disabled (last year 174 trips serving 1750 clients!) and assistance for the newly formed ‘Granite House’ providing shelter and care for brain impaired patients.

WWII veterans are invited as Lions’ guests to both the presentation and the special Czech Dinner Buffet both at Water Street Inn. For program tickets visit: http://www.EventBrite.com
