Home Brewing 101

(Third Wednesday of the month)
Have you always wanted to learn to make beer, but are overwhelmed by the complexity?  This class will teach you how to make a basic pale ale either from a kit or by selecting your own ingredients using inexpensive and simple equipment.  The class is taught by Kim Kiiskinen, Reference and Technology Librarian, who has been brewing beer for 25 years.

June 21 – Brew beer using just malt extract, specialty grains, hops, water and yeast*

July 19 – Bottle the fermented beer at the River Falls Public Library*

August 16 – Taste the bottled beer and talk about The Complete Joy of Homebrewing by Charlie Papazian and enter to win a Pale Ale ingredients kit

*Make sure you can attend the first two classes in June and July.  The third class in August is optional but you must have been at the June and July classes to attend the beer tasting.
