Creative Nonfiction With Greg Breining

Creative Nonfiction With Greg Breining

Presented by Stillwater Public Library at Stillwater Public Library

Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on September 7, September 14, and September 21 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm for Creative Nonfiction With Greg Breining. What is creative nonfiction and how do you write it? Those are the big questions you’ll explore in this three-evening class led by author and magazine writer Greg Breining. You will explore the forms of this wildly popular genre, from memoir to personal essay to travel writing and literary journalism. You’ll try writing with the literary “tools” that elevate creative nonfiction. Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to submit some of your own work for construction critique.
Greg Breining writes about travel, science, and nature for The New York Times, National Wildlife, Audubon, Discover, and for clients such as the Mayo Clinic and University of Minnesota. His books include the travel memoir Wild Shore: Exploring Lake Superior by Kayak, Super Volcano: The Ticking Time Bomb Beneath Yellowstone National Park, and Paddle North: Canoeing the Boundary Waters-Quetico. He teaches magazine writing at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis.
