Part II features a re-creation of the ‘68 TV Special from the iconic boxing ring, black leather, and acoustic jam session to the conflict with the Big Boss Man and the Gospel section that Elvis felt was so important.
By 1968, music had changed dramatically in the United States. Elvis had made 30 movies and was ready for his own change, but were his fans willing to take him back? Elvis tells his story from his roots and the music that influenced him. He sings some new versions of old songs and introduces music that would become his new sound. Also featured are other legends who were forging the new sound, such as Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and more. But Elvis’s return to the stage after 10 years proved he was still the king.
