Please join us this Friday, December 1st as we showcase the work of Laura Chandler. The reception will begin at 6 PM in the bikeshop. Complimentary nibbles and refreshments will be served. Her art will be displayed in the dining room for the month of December.

About the Artist:

Laura is a 23 year old self-taught artist and pet stylist who has always had a love of the natural world, the solitude of nature and the peace that comes with spending time with the plants and animals that inhabit it. She has a strong interest in astronomy and the unknown expanse of the cosmos. Her art reflects this with themes of solitude, isolation and detachment from society. She creates her art solely with spray paint on stretched canvas or poster board. She has created her own personal style from the spray paint street art that first inspired her to try the medium. The method involves using multiple layers of color, using stencils to define planets, and creating definition by the addition and subtraction of paint. Tools used include a large variety of painting knives, clay sculpting tools, sea sponges, plastic bags, and handmade paper tools.
