Join us on April 8 for a joint artist reception with Tom Blanck and B.J. Christofferson!
Prescott painter Tom Blanck and Maiden Rock mixed-media artist B.J. Christofferson are currently displaying their artwork for sale at the Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center! Come join us on April 8 for their joint artist reception. This is your opportunity to ask the artists questions about their work, their inspiration, and about individual pieces. Refreshments will be provided. This art gallery will be on display until 5/1/18.
Christofferson: “My work represents protectors, guardians, saints and their symbols. Many inhabit small shrine-like dwelling places. My intent is to explore the heart – the center of life, strength and understanding. The allegorical images are cut from paper and layered to create 3-dimensional narratives. Along with religious and other ephemeral objects as well as decorative patterns, the final “scene” is left open to personal interpretation.”
Blanck: “My preferred method of painting is to study a landscape or scene from several angles until I understand its qualities. No doubt, this is the architect in me speaking, at least in part. I then determine a view based on how the composition will appear in the painting. A good painting, like a well-designed home, is a celebration of the human spirit, an invitation to share, and a reminder, whether subtle or bold, of the importance of beauty and balance in life.”
