Give Back to the River Day

Presented by St. Croix River Association at Lions Park

Join the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, the St. Croix River Association and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for an Earth Day Weekend stewardship project.

Project Locations: Lions Park and the North Campground at Wisconsin Interstate

Meeting Locations:

Lions Park Project – Meet at 8am at Lions Park. The Park Entrance is on the west side of State Hwy 87 on the north end of St. Croix Falls, just past the intersection of N Hamilton and Hwy 87.

WI Interstate Project – Meet at 8am at the top of the Ladder Tank Trail (across from the old Dairy Queen) on S. Washington St (Hwy 87). Parking available along the street, at the public library, and near the Holiday Station.

Project Tasks: Invasive plant removal

Lions Park Project – Buckthorn and bush honeysuckle cutting, and hand-pull garlic mustard, from the area on the north end of Lion’s Park extending north along the Indianhead segment of the Ice Age Trail.

WI Interstate Project – Removal of garlic mustard from along the Ladder Tank Trail of WI Interstate Park and other areas along the hills and streams of the North Campground. Volunteers will be shown how to identify garlic mustard, and the advised removal and disposal techniques.

Age Restriction: Ages 10 & up due to potential hazards and nature of the work. All youth participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Please bring: Water, snacks, sunscreen, and if you have them; work gloves, loppers, etc

Please wear: Appropriate work clothes including long sleeve shirt, long pants, hat, work boots or closed toed shoes (preferably waterproof)
*kneeling pad encouraged for project at WI Interstate Park
