Life as a Civil War Soldier: The First Minnesota and Company B

Presented by Washington County Historic Courthouse at Washington County Historic Courthouse

In honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Soldiers & Sailors Civil War Monument on the grounds of the Washington County Historic Courthouse, a new exhibit will be installed this June 2017, entitled, “Life as a Civil War Soldier: The First Minnesota and Company B”. The exhibit will focus on local Civil War heroes from Stillwater and Washington County. Follow the stories of these brave men as they are mustered into service and fight on the battlefields of Bull Run, Antietam and Gettysburg. Discover their fate – Were they left behind on the battlefield or did they return to their families? If they returned, were they the same men or forever changed by their experiences?

Join us for the grand opening of the exhibit on Saturday, June 3rd from 10:00am-4:30pm while we honor these heroes and celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Historic Courthouse. The exhibit will be on display in the Historic Courthouse’s Vault Exhibit Room until January 5, 2018. For more information, please call 651-275-7075 or e-mail historiccourthouse@co.washington.mn.us.
