Nico Merkin was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1975. In 1995 he formed the alt-rock trio 9 Látigos (1995-2010), which recorded 31 songs written by Nico. During this period he also busked in the subways of Buenos Aires. After moving to Mexico in 2012, Nico formed the folk rock band Post Folks (2012-2015). This band recorded 3 EP’s with 13 songs, again composed by him. After this, Nico chose to become a solo act, performing under his own name while pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter. At almost the same time, he was invited, by another Argentinian also living in Mexico City, to be the singer of the blues band Perikles y La Impredecible Blues. This band recorded a Spanish language blues album titled “Bajando a Buenos Aires” in 2017.

In July 2018 Nico Merkin decided it was time to bring his music to the U.S. He bought a truck in Indiana and is currently driving across the Midwest showcasing his latest album and performing his versions of the covers he loves. All the while, he is connecting with local musicians and music producers. To date, Nico has composed over 200 songs, fewer than half of which have been recorded. For this, he is still dreaming of finding and signing with the right record label.
