Meet the artists and enjoy refreshments as we celebrate the first exhibition of 2019!
Join ArtReach St. Croix for the opening party to celebrate the first exhibition of the new year. Moments includes paintings and jewelry by three local artists.
Judy Fawcett is a painter. Her body of work in this exhibition explores the textures, distinctive markings and bright colors of butterflies. Her interest in these animals is connected to her concern for the loss of butterfly habitat and their declining population. These thoughtful paintings contrast the beauty of butterflies with a sense of dark peril in the face of environmental threats to their existence.
Richard Mittelstadt uses saturated color and bold texture in his abstracted paintings. With broad sources of inspiration, Mittelstadt’s acrylics evoke lush sunsets, bolts of light, craggy surfaces and dramatic spacescapes. He says, “I think of my artwork as a theatrical production… a gift of enchantment, amusement, and emotional connection.”
Kerri Norman is a jewelry designer and metal smith based in the Twin Cities area. Her work is marked by the use of mixed metals, stones, gems and pearls to create pieces that tend to the industrial and mechanical in appearance while remaining delicate, wearable and femininely modern. Key inspirations are usually natural phenomena, flora and fauna as can be seen in many pieces, especially in the latest collections based on sundew plants, jellyfish and storms.
