Hiking isn’t just for summertime! With snowshoes you can explore the incredible beauty of Minnesota State Parks in the winter.
This class is designed to get you started on the right foot when it comes to this popular form of winter recreation. The park naturalist will present a short program on the history of snowshoeing, give an overview of techniques, and send you out on the trail. You’ll be out on your own within 30 minutes and free to explore for a couple hours.
You can borrow our snowshoes for free or bring your own. No experience necessary. Dress in warm layers. Snowshoes will fit over your winter boots. If there isn’t enough snow, this program will be cancelled online and we’ll notify all registered participants.
Meet in the Visitor Center at 2:30 p.m.
This program has limited space. Reserve your spot by emailing Sean.Hoppes@state.mn.us or by calling Sean at 651-433-0500 x227.
If you’d prefer a guided naturalist experience, be sure to check out Snowshoe Discovery Walks and Animal Tracking on Snowshoes, offered on some Saturdays in March.
Free program. All vehicles entering the park must display a $7 daily or $35 annual MN State Parks Pass, available at the entrance station.
