Come take in photographer David Husom’s breathtaking, expansive photographs of the Wisconsin Great River Road during this free art exhibit opening reception.
Come explore the small river towns and the bluff landscapes that line the Great River Road in Wisconsin along the Mississippi River by enjoying Mr. Husom’s incredible photographs, captured by an unmanned aerial vehicle camera! Ask the artist about his inspiration, techniques, technology, and where on the globe his documentary photography has taken him. Free program; refreshments will be served.
David Husom is a documentary photographer specializing in the vernacular and cultural landscape of America. As a Wisconsin and Minnesota based photographer, Husom has traveled the back roads of the Midwest extensively. He has also photographed in nearly every state in the US, as well as in Asia, Europe and Australia. His work has been in exhibits from California to Maine and is included in major museum collections including the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
Starting in 2017 he started using a unmanned aerial vehicle camera (UAV, or drone) for his photography. Like much of his previous work from the past 18 years, in this new work he explores the Mississippi River valley in the Driftless Area of the small towns and river bluff landscapes that line the river. This exhibit will emphasize the river towns along the Great River Road in Wisconsin.
This art exhibit will be on display at the Visitor Center from June 1 through July 15. More information on davidhusom.com. See “About” for a full bio, and “Work: Upper Mississippi” for more on this project.
