Learn about gender equitable teaching strategies using SciGirls programming, a national educational initiative from Twin Cities PBS.
SciGirls changes how girls think about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)!
At this workshop you will learn about the SciGirls strategies, curriculum, and several hands-on activities, which you will be able to immediately implement into your program. This all-day training includes lunch. Attendees can be formal and/or informal educators. No prior experience required!
SciGirls engages, encourages and inspires girls around STEM learning, fostering self-confidence, motivation and ongoing interest in educational and career pathways. SciGirls empowers educators to create a more gender equitable and culturally responsive learning environment that inspires, engages and helps girls thrive in STEM. These strategies have also been proven to work with all learners. Everyone benefits from a gender equitable approach to STEM!
This professional development workshop is offered at a very low cost thanks to ArtReach St. Croix’s NEA Big Read in the St. Croix Valley. NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. In April 2020, we are encouraging everyone to read LAB GIRL, by Hope Jahren and join St. Croix Valley neighbors in a month of programs and activities related to themes found in the book.
