ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Will C. Fritsch was drawn to photography in the 60’s by two compelling forces; the power of the still image to evoke memories of family traditions and adventures as well as powerful pictures coming from the Vietnam War, and the images of the demonstrations during the Civil Rights movement. Self-taught, in the 70’s and early 80’s his photographic skill began to be recognized by local critics and galleries. By the mid 80’s Fritsch set aside his camera to build a business and a solid income for his wife and family.

Retiring in 2015 and living in Hastings, MN, he had time to reignite his interest in photography and passion for the printed image. Fritsch believes that photographic art should use strong visual appeal to draw in the viewer to a treatment of the subject which engages the viewer’s memories, emotions, or convictions, much like those striking and memorable photographs of the past.
