February 27: Mixed-Media Collages & Combine Sculptures with Preston Drum
Preston Drum holds a BFA from Memphis College of Art and an MFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. His paintings, sculptures, videos and interactive installations explore notions of memory and performance through non-linear storytelling. Drum’s work is often site-specific and collaborative in nature, framing the audience as a participant in the art. His work has been exhibited at The Minneapolis Institute of Art and The Walker Art Center. Drum is a member of the Minnesota based artist group, CarryOn Homes, whose mission is to raise awareness of immigration issues through the creation of artworks. Students in this class will experiment with a variety of media to create a multi-media sculpture that they can take home. Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials they may be interested in incorporating into the finished work.

Coming up:

March 27: Abstract Clay Sculptures with Erin Paradis
April 17: Birdhouses, Batboxes, and Beeboxes with Don Porcella
May 29: Soft Sculpture with Allison Baker
June 12: Sound Sculpture with Lee Noble

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the East Central Regional Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
